I’ve done everything from presenting/producing radio shows to writing and delivering news – pioneering a new way of doing it for London-based Capital FM’s morning drive audience. I spent two years writing, reading and editing news for IRN and even produced, wrote and presented three year-end News Reviews.
I have worked in many of the best and most competitive broadcast markets in the UK. There are few things I have not turned my hand to – apart from News I’ve done music shows, phone-ins and magazine programmes for commercial and BBC Local Radio.
Here are some examples of recent work….

It is really hard to pick out career highlights from my years in broadcasting to date. But high on the list would be broadcasting live from Ground Zero and getting to know people directly involved in that tragedy, covering the extraordinary week of Princess Diana’s death including live commentary on her funeral. Then there were the many wacky, wild and warm moments from a decade on air with Chris Tarrant at Capital FM in London. Breaking news of the start of the first Gulf War on IRN across the UK was memorable. At one stage I did a 15 minute newscast - including a live, clock-start insert from the WhiteHouse.
I devised the first show about the stars of English-speaking radio across the globe – Howard’s World at LBC 97.3. I interviewed broadcasters who are megastars in their home countries including New York disc jockey Scott Shannon and Australian talk radio legend John Laws.
And I mustn’t forget the paranormal show I created for Kelvin MacKenzie at talkSPORT – “The Unexplained.” On it I used a journalist’s skills to unpick conspiracy theories, ghost stories and UFO sightings with guests including Uri Geller, David Icke, UFO expert Nick Pope, NASA space guru Richard Hoagland, futurologist Dr Louis Turi and an unforgettable man in the U.S. who claimed he could transport his wife to the year 3000 – and demonstrated it live on air from a studio at KABC Los Angeles! There were many funny, frantic and frightening moments. I still get emails from across the country and around the world about this show – see www.theunexplained.tv. |
